University of Blueberry Syrup: Reality

Reality:
Yup, I am actually working full time at the U, complete with travel, deadlines, bosses, colleagues, contract staff that can't be made to do anything, women in sexually suggestive clothing, way casual young folks, multi-cultural misunderstandings, and...I love it *:-)
So far my boss has dropped by to tell me that due to a paperwork error they wouldn't be able to pay me for the first month until the end of the second month (they got that fixed), that he is not sure if I am hourly or salaried as far as HR is concerned, that he expects me to do the job as though I were salaried, and we are compromising on how much time I put on my time card in case he actually has to pay me for all the extra hours I am putting in *:-)
I am a good fit for the job and have been successful in the field already, and also with some high mucky-mucks working in the President of the University's office, so I am hanging on for the ride.
Pisses me off though that so far everytime (3 times) I have been returning from a trip where I had to drive my own car for a couple hundred miles each way, that on the way back the car's "check engine" light has come on just as I am leaving to start home, so I have to worry all the way back after checking with the dealership and hearing them say "No, I think we fixed that last time, don't worry about the light". My kids tell me just to cut the wires to the "check engine" light and stop worrying about it *:-(
